Otohime's Tragedy
Otohime, is the queen of the Ryugu Kingdom, the Fishman Island. She was the counterpart of Fisher Tiger and both fought against the discrimination against their race. But unlike Fisher Tiger, Otohime wanted humans and fishmen and merfolk to live in harmony together.

As Jinbei explains the story of Otohime, Otohime is seen trying to gather signatures for a petition that would allow their race to migrate to land. (Episode 541) After Fisher Tiger’s death, citizens of Fishman Island began trying to rescind their signatures out of fear and hatred of humans. This results in Otohime getting drunk and giving a speech accusing the residents of fearing change and preventing their children from seeing the “true wonders of the world.” (Episode 544) But the residents’ fear is understandable due to the discrimination they have been a victim of in the past, and do not want to risk the chances of receiving it again. Unfortunately, someone sets the petitions on fire, ruining the work Otohime has attempted over the years. (Episode 546)

Even worse, she is assassinated, and later we find it she is actually assassinated by a fishman who held the same beliefs as Arlong and felt that Otohime should not be promoting harmony between the two races. Yet again another character is acting on hate and revenge against the injustice they have experienced, and as a result, greatly damaging the Ryugu Kingdom as a whole.
